A Zero Waste Event

We are striving to be a Zero Waste event! We'll do our best to reduce the amount of trash that goes to the landfills and focus on using sustainable products that can be composted, reused and recycled.    

What is Zero Waste?

Animas River Days is committed to be  a Zero Waste event.  Being a Zero Waste event means reducing the amount of trash that goes to the landfills and focusing on using sustainable products that can be composted, reused, and recycled. ​

What Are We Doing? 

• Selling reusable pint glasses
• Providing a Zero-Waste Station 
• Recycle and trash bins throughout the park
• Encouraging our food vendors to also work towards using sustainable plates, cups, and utensils. 
• Water fill station where people can stay hydrated by using their own water bottles
• Online registration and waivers for competitors and volunteers. 

Leading the Way

We are the first event in Durango to attempt Zero Waste.  We will work each year to limit the amount of trash we send to the landfill and hopefully we will lead the way in our Durango community for more events to follow suit. ​
